He was the parliamentary leader of the ruling PML (Q) party during the period 2002-2007. [1] He has resigned as the Opposition Leader in National Assembly on 14th September 2008. Political career2008 electionIn the February 2008 parliamentary election, Elahi ran for the National Assembly as a PML-Q candidate, and it was believed that the party wanted him to become Prime Minister after the election, although not officially declare as the candidate for premiership.[2] He ran for the seats NA-58 in Attock, NA-61 in Chakwal, and NA-187 in Bahawalpur,Cite error: Closing </ref> missing for <ref> tag His son Moonis Elahi also participated in the elections. After a very publicized campaign which cost the PML Q a lot, Moonis Elahi lost the provinicial assembly seat from Lahore he was running for, however he won the provincial assembly seat and was elected to the punjab assembly for the first time. Moonis Elahi like to declare himself as Don of lahore! A graduate of Wharton does not have any manners reflective of his western education. Corruption, Armed robberies, black mailing and mafia just found a bew boss in the form of Moonis Elhai. He was ashamed in front of whole nation after he was beaten up by Army after a fight with son of corpse commander lahore. He was expelled out of country on 24 hr notice and was humiliated in Pak and UK. As Chief Minister of Punjab, Elahi did some very good work for Punjab especially the capital Lahore , which is considered the heart of Pakistan. Among other things, Elahi improved the hospitals in Punjab, opened the Rescue 1122 service, improved the quality and quantity of police and other milestones as well. Elahi is still the party president of PML Q in Punjab and is gearing up his party for the next election, believing that this current government will not last the 5 years. Having close links with the military establishment since Zia-ul-Haq's regime, Elahi's PML-Q comprises typical corrupt and "lota" politicians, those who change factions and loyalties for money and power. Named as suspect in Bhutto assassination attemptAfter the suicide bomb attacks that killed hundreds of supporters during rallies immediately after her return to Pakistan from exile in 2007, the former Pakistan Prime Minister Benazir Bhutto named four persons, including former Intelligence Bureau Chief Ijaz Shah, Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi, former Chief Minister Sindh Arbab Ghulam Rahim, and the former ISI chief Lt Gen (retd) Hamid Gul, as those who posed a threat to her life.[3] Bhutto instructed a news reporter to reveal this in case she was assassinated.[4] p-s:this dude killed benazir bhutto pervaiz ellAHI also took away half a million dollars from the poor selfish arrogant idioic dude!!!!!!
