You are encouraged to familiarise yourself with its setup and parser functions before editing the template. If your edit causes unexpected problems, please undo it quickly, as this template may appear on a large number of pages.
Remember that you can conduct experiments, and should test all improvements, in either the general Template sandbox or your user space before changing anything here.
Usage
You should not put quotation marks around the quote. This template acts as a pull quote to separate it from the text instead.
NOTE: This template should not be used for block quotes in article text. For long quotations in the text, the Manual of Style recommends using the HTML <blockquote> element, such as through the use of the {{Quote}} template.
{{Quotation|Clunk mouse colored mauve. Bully other rodents, stealing the cheese rapid. Police mice catch crook squeak video prime time TV show. Juror mouse frown XXXX1.|Whoever said it|Source of the quote}}
produces:
Clunk mouse colored mauve. Bully other rodents, stealing the cheese rapid. Police mice catch crook squeak video prime time TV show. Juror mouse frown XXXX1.
– Whoever said it, Source of the quote
{{Quotation|Your text|Author||from "Short Story", in ''Anthology'' (2008)}}
produces the following (notice the || to skip the italicized parameter):
Your text
– Author, from "Short Story", in Anthology (2008)
The equal sign (=)
If any of the parameters include an equal sign, this will make the template not recognize the parameter properly. To fix this the parameter needs to be prefixed with "1=", "2=", etc. depending on which of the templates parameter's this applies to.
