Uruguayan British (Spanish: Brit谩nicos uruguayos) is a term that refers to citizens or non-citizen immigrants of the United Kingdom whose ethnic origins lie fully or partially in the South American nation of Uruguay. The Uruguayan British community is the 11th largest subgroup of the Latin American British population, however with a population of only around 15,000 it is one of the smallest ethnic groups in the UK.[1] The majority of Uruguayans in the UK speak Spanish (including Rioplatense Spanish) and British English, as well as mainly following the Christian faith.[2] According to the 2001 UK Census, Uruguay was the 145th most common birthplace for British people, behind the Falkland Islands, but ahead of Kazakhstan.[3]
