WQLH-FM (98.5 FM, "Star 98") is a radio station licensed to and serving the Green Bay, Wisconsin area. The station is owned by Cumulus Media and broadcasts an Adult Contemporary music format. Cumulus Media has announced that it would swap 5 of their radio stations (incluing WQLH) with Clear Channel Communications for 2 of their stations in Ohio, though Cumulus would continue to operate the stations after the ownership transfer should it be approved.[1]
The station launched in 1967 as WDUZ-FM (a sister station to WDUZ-AM) and aired a beautiful music format until January 1990. At that time, the station shifted to a light adult contemporary format as "New Light 98.5 WQLH" (meaning "Quality Light Hits"). The format would evolve into a more modern (and more upbeat) adult contemporary playlist by the mid 1990s, becoming "Mix 98-5" (interestingly enough, WKSZ, another station in the market, later carried the 'Mix' moniker in the early 2000s). WQLH was purchased by Cumulus Media in 1999, and by the end of that year adopted the "Star 98" branding.
Misc.
WQLH has a sister radio station, WBZE, in Tallahassee, Florida which is also owned by Cumulus Media and has the "Star 98" branding.
